O primeiro volume da série Cristianismo Mundial e Religião Pública resiste à tentação de criar um todo harmônico e privilegia ouvir com atenção tanto estudiosos do cristianismo mundial já consagrados quanto emergentes, de variadas formações, que articulam suas ideias sobre a natureza pública dos cristianismos mundiais emergentes. A escolha por abrir espaço para a diferença e mesmo para a discordância não torna a coletânea um amontoado de ensaios aleatórios, que não comunicam nenhuma mensagem relevante. Pelo contrário, este é o começo de uma conversa real envolvendo múltiplas vozes que, assim esperamos, se estenderá por muitos anos, conforme indicado na apresentação da série.

The first volume of the series World Christianity and Public Religion resists the temptation of creating a harmonic whole in favor of listening with attention to both already established and emerging world Christian scholars from a number of backgrounds, as they articulate their thoughts on the public nature of emerging world Christianities. The choice for making room for difference and even discordance does not turn this collection into a horde of random essays, which do not communicate any meaningful message. On the contrary, this is the beginning of a real conversation involving multiple voices, which will hopefully be sustained for a number of years, as indicated in the series foreword.
